Hello! I'm Hrishika Roychoudhury and I'm running for Dorm Senator for the Fully Remote cohort!

I really want to be able to represent the Fully Remote students well, especially in Student Government discussions and other school activities, because I feel like the Fully Remote group doesn't get enough recognition or credit sometimes. I know a lot of us have had issues and confusion in the past regarding inclusion in events and activities. So I really want to be able to clear that up by ensuring everyone has equal opportunity within the school and are able to develop healthy connections with each other, even virtually in these trying times.

You might ask, how in the world would you do this Hrishika? Well, having talked to and continuing to talk to many students that have experienced the virtual learning format, I've found many problems and possible solutions. One concern that has frequently arisen with many remote students are the way many asynchronus classes are conducted. It appears that these blocks, are simply being used as free blocks by many students, however many people believe this time would be better spent in communication with the teachers. For example, as a class study hall. Even simply organizing class study groups, I believe, would greatly help in completing work without so much of the stress that many of us are feeling in these times.

Speaking of better communication with teachers, I've found that both students and teachers have trouble with communicating via email. So here, I suggest a more direct form of communication through group chatting systems, such as Slack, Remind, etc.

Mental Health is also a huge thing to keep in mind with our virtual learning format. I mean, sitting in front of a screen for over ten hours without even being able to talk to your friends like you used to before is so extremely harmful both physically and mentally. Thus, in my candidacy, I aim to help students manage and decrease their workload with whatever tips and tricks I know, so that students can actually time for breaks, and maybe even have fun with their friends, through virtual activities that I hope to host soon.
